Love the staying power of high-end setting sprays? Learn how to make your own at home with these DIY solutions!

Welcome back to our Everyday Makeup category on Makeup Tips! Today, we are diving into the world of DIY and sharing with you our top secrets on making your own Makeup Setting Sprays! Not only does DIY allow you to customise your products according to your skin type and preference, but it's also a budget-friendly alternative to the high street brands. Plus, the process itself is an enjoyable hobby! So, if you're ready, let's dive in right away.

For our first DIY Makeup Setting Spray, we're opting for a simple two-ingredient recipe. All you need is distilled water and glycerin, both of which you can purchase online or in health food stores. It's as simple as mixing one part glycerin to three parts distilled water and pouring it into a spray bottle. The glycerin acts as a fixative without the harsh chemicals. This spray is perfect for use after you've applied your makeup as it keeps everything in place while providing a lovely, natural glow. Additionally, because glycerin is a humectant, it helps in bringing moisture to the skin, which is perfect for those with dry skin.

Our second DIY recipe incorporates green tea, which has tremendous benefits for our skin due to its antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. To make this spray, brew a cup of green tea and let it cool down. Then, add a teaspoon of aloe vera gel (which is fantastic for hydration and soothing the skin) and a teaspoon of witch hazel (great for controlling oil). Once you have mixed your ingredients well, pour them into a spray bottle and refrigerate. This spray can be used before makeup (to prep the skin), after makeup (to set it), or even throughout the day (to refresh your makeup look). A truly refreshing and skin-benefiting setting spray, indeed!
